Mc&B secures settlement for victim of HIPAA violation

Our private health information is strictly that, private.  No one, without proper authorization has a right to view that information, let alone tell others about what they have read.

Mc&B represented such a client.  Our client was being treated for health issues at a hospital.

During the course of our client’s treatment, an employee of the hospital wrongfully accessed the medical records and shared the private medical information with their child who attended the same school as the daughter of our client.

Word spread quickly through the school and our client was soon receiving phone calls from another parents about her condition.

Our client was embarrassed and devastated knowing that their private information was being discussed throughout the small community.

Mc&B filled suit against the hospital for disclosing personal and private patient information without authorization and was able to secure a large monetary settlement for our client.
