McShane & Brady, LLC is investigating a data breach from iRhythm Holdings, a manufacturer of heart monitoring devices used by approximately 8 million people.

iRhythm identified unauthorized access to certain business applications that are hosted on a third-party platform. One day after the unauthorized access was identified, the company received a notice from a threat actor who claimed to have sensitive data from its applications and demanded payment.

An investigation was conducted and concluded that indeed the threat actor had taken sensitive data, including personal and protected health information.
