On January 7, 2025, Sunflower Medical Group, P.A. became aware of suspicious activity within its computer network.

Sunflower Medical Group has locations in Lenexa, Roeland Park, and Kansas City, Kansas.

An investigation was conducted and it was determined that an unknown third party accessed Sunflower’s systems on or about December 15, 2024 and acquired copies of files from Sunflower’s systems.

Information disclosed may have included one or more of the following: name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, driver’s license number, medical information, and health insurance information.

According to a filing with the Maine Attorney General’s office, this breach has impacted over 220,000 individuals.

Letters of notification are being sent those affected by this data breach.

From hospitals, healthcare providers, government services, service providers to insurance companies, proper precautions and training have not been made to secure these records.
