DaVita

Dialysis firm DaVita is alerting the public of a ransomware attack that it discovered on April 12, 2025.

DaVita is a provider of kidney care services in the United States, operating over 2,600 outpatient treatment centers that provide dialysis to those suffering from kidney disease.

The potential scale of the breach is significant considering that DaVita served approximately 281,100 patients worldwide through its extensive network.

DaVita has numerous locations around the Greater Kansas City area.

Yale New Haven

Yale New Haven Health System has announced a data security incident that has affected more than 5.5 million individuals.  This is the largest data breach reported so far in 2025.

Yale New Haven Health has confirmed that an unauthorized third party gained access to its network on March 8, 2025.

Data stolen in the cyberattack varies by individual.  The stolen data may have included names in combination with one or more of the following: address, telephone number, email address, date of birth, race/ethnicity, patient type, medical record number, and/or Social Security number.

Blue Shield of California

The health insurance plan provider Blue Shield of California disclosed a web tracking-related privacy breach involving user data being shared with Google’s advertising product, Google Ads.

Blue Shield announced April 9 that the personal information of some of its patients was shared with Google Ads between April 2021 and January 2024.

The breach was recently reported to the HHS’ Office for Civil Rights (OCR) as affecting up to 4.7 million.

Blue Shield member information that may have been compromised include insurance plan name, type, and group number, city and zip code, gender, family size, Blue Shield assigned identifiers for online accounts, medical claim service date and provider, patient name, and patient financials.

According to the notice,  no additional personal data such as Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and banking and credit card information were disclosed.

Vitruvian Health

Vitruvian Health, formerly known as Hamilton Health Care System, reported that a data breach might have exposed the personal information of 88,848 individuals.

The breach involves Nationwide Recovery Service which is a third-party collection agency used by the company to recover unpaid debts.

The breach was discovered in July 2024 when an unauthorized party illegally accessed the firm’s database.

Letters of notification have been sent to those affected by this breach.
