Portland, ME Public Schools
The Portland Public School District recently announced a data breach that has affected over 12,000 people.
According to a filing with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, on or about February 5, 2025, PPS experienced unauthorized access to its network.
An investigation was conducted and found that personal information was accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized individual.
Each person affected by this breach will receive a letter containing what information was disclosed.
Alpine Ear, Nose, & Throat
Ft. Collins, CO based Alpine Ear, Nose, and Throat(ANET) notified the Office of the Maine Attorney General a data breach that has affected over 65,000 individuals.
On November 19, 2024, AENT discovered that its systems were potentially compromised by an unauthorized actor.
A forensic investigation concluded that personal information within AENT’s systems was subject to unauthorized access. According to the breach letter filed in Maine, “It is possible that Demographic Information, Date of Birth, Medical Information, Health Insurance Information, and for some individuals, Financial Account Information, Credit Card CVC, Credit Card Expiration, Credit Card Number, Social Security Number may have been exposed as a result of this unauthorized activity.”
Letters are being sent to those affected by this breach.
1st MidAmerica Credit Union
Bethalto, IL based 1st MidAmerica Credit Union has announced a data breach that has affected over 131,000 individuals.
According to a filing with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, “On or about August 14, 2025, MACU was informed by Marquis Software Solutions (“Marquis”) – a vendor of MACU – that it had identified suspicious activity on its network and determined that the activity was the result of a cybersecurity incident.”
An investigation determined that an unauthorized third party accessed Marquis’ computing environment and may have accessed and acquired certain files from its systems.
The personal information included first and last names and Social Security Numbers.
Breach letters are being sent to those affected.
