Medusind
Medusind is a medical and dental billing and revenue cycle management company based in Florida. They experienced a data breach affecting more than 360,000 patients in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired.
While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes name, Social Security number, DOB, address, contact info, government ID, health insurance info, and health information.
Breach letters began being sent on January 7, 2025 to those affected by this breach.
Indiana University Health
Indiana University Health (IU Health) announced on January 7, 2025 that it detected suspicious activity in a user’s email account on November 8, 2024. An investigation began and IU Health confirmed that a threat actor had access to the email account from August 27, 2024, to October 2, 2024.
The information potentially compromised varied from individual to individual and may have included names, addresses, ages, medical record numbers, diagnoses, limited treatment information, and for a small subset of individuals, Social Security numbers.
Notification letters were sent beginning on January 2, 2025 to those who may be impacted by this breach.
It is unknown at this time how many people were affected.
American Addiction Centers
American Addiction Centers, Inc. has recently confirmed that 410,747 current and former patients have been affected by a cybersecurity incident and may have had their protected health information stolen. The attack was detected on or around September 26, 2024. An investigation found that access to personal information was gained between September 23 and September 24, 2024.
Based in Brentwood, TN, American Addition Centers has the following affiliate locations: AdCare (MA & RI), the Greenhouse (TX), Desert Hope Center (NV), Oxford Treatment Center (MS), Recovery First (FL), Sunrise House (NJ), River Oaks Treatment Center (FL), and Laguna Treatment Hospital (CA). These locations were also affected by the cyberattack.
