Alfac, Krispy Kreme Announce Data Breaches

McLaren Health Care
McLaren Health Care in Michigan has begun to notify 743,000 individuals that some of their protected health information was compromised in an August 2024 ransomware attack.
Unauthorized access to its computer systems was detected on or around August 5, 2024. McLaren Health Care learned that there was unauthorized access to the systems used by McLaren Health Care and its Karmanos cancer centers between July 17, 2024, and August 3, 2024.
The data compromised in the incident include names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, medical information, and health insurance information.
Krispy Kreme
Krispy Kreme began sending out breach notification documents to thousands of victims this week after a cyberattackmay have exposed their data in November 2024.
An investigation was conducted and concluded that personal information was stolen from 161,676 people.
The data stolen includes Social Security numbers, driver’s licenses, financial account numbers, debit card or credit card numbers with security codes, passport numbers, digital signatures, biometric data, military ID numbers, health insurance information and more.
A Krispy Kreme spokesperson said the “vast majority of those affected are Krispy Kreme employees, members of their families, and former employees.”
Aflac
Aflac disclosed last week that cybercriminals breached its U.S. network and may have accessed customers’ personal information.
Aflac said it identified suspicious activity on its U.S. network on June 12. The breach potentially impacted files containing customers’ personal information, such as Social Security numbers and health-related details.
Aflac provides home and life insurance and manages data for more than 50 million policyholders.
It has not yet been determined how many people may have been affected by his breach.
