Univ. of Mississippi Med Ctr, Others Announce Breaches

University of Mississippi Medical Center
University of Mississippi Medical Center clinics statewide remain closed Monday and Tuesday after a cyberattack on Thursday, Feb. 19, disrupted multiple systems.
All 35 UMMC clinics are closed, and appointments are being canceled. Non-emergency, elective procedures, and regular appointments are suspended.
Phone systems and ability to receive or send emails remain down or unreliable.
Officials said it is still too early to determine the full extent of the breach.
Greater Pittsburgh Orthopedic Associates
Greater Pittsburgh Orthopedic Associates Inc. (“GPOA”) experienced a data security incident that may have affected personal or health information.
GPOA detected an incident on August 10, 2025, involving unauthorized access to GPOA’s computer network.
An investigation was conducted and found this compromise could have included names, mailing address, Social Security numbers, and provider names.
According to a filing the Office of the Maine Attorney General, this breach has affected over 56,000 people. GPOA began notifying those affected on February 5, 2026.
Center for Advanced Eye Care
The Center for Advanced Eye Care, with locations in Pennsylvania and Delaware, is a medical practice specializing in surgical and medical vision care.
On Dec. 16, 2025, it was discovered that an unauthorized actor had potentially compromised its legacy environment.
An investigation determined that certain protected health information (PHI) within the legacy systems was accessed without authorization.
The exact number of individuals affected has not been disclosed.
Notification letters dated February 19, 2026 are being sent to those affected.
