TitleMax parent company data breach, 5 million SSN exposed

TMX Finance Corporate Services has disclosed a data breach that exposed the personal information of nearly five million individuals.  Affiliates of TMX include TitleMax, TitleBucks, and InstaLoan.

Letters regarding the disclosure were sent on March 30, 2023.  Per the letter, suspicious activity was detected on their systems.  An investigation revealed that personal information may been acquired between February 3 – February 14.  It included name, date of birth, passport number, driver’s license, tax ID, social security numbers and/or financial account information.
