Be Careful What You Post on Social Media

Social media has taken over our lives.  Everyone these days has a Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.   According to statista.com, the average person spent over 2 hours a day on social media.   In an instant, you can find out just about anything about someone.  We all enjoy seeing family pics, vacation, pics, etc. but we also must be very careful and selective on what we post.  If you a person who posts quite often on your social media accounts, then it’s a possibility that you would post something about your recent accident and the injuries you have sustained.

You must remember the interest is public record.  That means anything you post can be found by anyone who looks hard enough.   A number of interested parties will look at what you post.

  1. The insurance company will look at any pictures you post to see if you are actually as injured as you say.
  2.  The defense attorney will look at your posts.
  3. A judge may also view the posts to check on your claims of injury

It is best that you refrain from any posts that can incriminate you.  You do not want to give anyone anything that can be harmful to your case.  If you do post, never mention your accident or your claim.
