Spring River Mental Health & Wellness
Spring River Mental Health & Wellness is a nonprofit community mental health center with two facilities located in Columbus and Riverton, Kansas. Spring River provides a variety of services to children, adults, and families, including psychiatric evaluation, therapy, specialized trauma services, addiction and substance use services, medication assisted treatment, and other medical services.
On January 24, Spring River posted a notice of a data breach. It was determined they suffered a data breach and as a result sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed without authorization.
According to the release from Spring River, individuals whose protected health information may have been involved will be contacted directly with information and resources.
According to a filing with the US Department of Health and Human Services, this data breach affects over 3,000 people.
Community Health Center in Connecticut
Community Health Center, a nonprofit healthcare provider in Middletown, Connecticut, recently announced a data breach affecting more than one million patients.
Unauthorized activity was discovered in its computer systems on January 2, 2025. Personal information that may have been compromised include names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, diagnoses, test results, treatment information, health insurance information, and Social Security numbers.
Notification letters are being sent to those who have been affected by this breach.
PowerSchool
PowerSchool is a cloud-based student information system that helps schools manage student information and improve operations. It also provides tools for parents to access their child’s school information.
Local school districts such as North Kansas City and Liberty School District use Powerschool. In all, over 60 million students across the United States use this service.
In late December 2024, an unidentified threat actor used stolen credentials to access its PowerSchool Student Information System platform. Information accessed in this attack included names, and postal addresses, and in some districts, the threat actors also obtained Social Security numbers (SSN), personally identifiable information (PII), medical information, and grades.
